Travel updates after freight train derails near Wakefield Westgate

A derailed freight train near Wakefield Westgate is causing disruption for passengers this morning.

Additionally, the freight train has damaged a set of points when it derailed, so is causing further disruption in the area.

Trains between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until 11:00.

Alternative travel advice

LNER passengers may use their ticket on TransPennine Express services to York, or on the first available LNER service.
