Passengers travelling with North Eastern Railway will soon be able to scan a QR code at their seat to find out the latest information on their journey and connecting services.

The new one-stop digital information service will also tie in with the Lets Eat At Your Seat service in Standard Class and will be introduced across LNER's fleet of trains.

Developed with Whoosh, the platform will allow passengers to look at attraction ideas when they get to their destination.

“We know from our customers just how important it is for them to have the latest information about their journeys. At LNER, we believe the digital experience plays a crucial role in helping people enjoy the best possible experience when they travel with us. This is just one way we are further enhancing that experience and we will be looking to add more features in the future.”

Danny Gonzalez, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at LNER

  • But will it make the trains actually run on time every time ? If not then LNER should be focusing themselves on how they deliver a punctual service. Gimmick stuff to follow later because 5 late is 5 late … That’s not on-time.
