Railway reopens between Barmouth and Pwllheli after bridge work

and have thanked passengers as the line between and reopened this morning.

The line has been closed since Friday 25 October to allow Network Rail to deliver maintenance work on the River Artro Viaduct in Pensarn.

This work included replacing structural elements of the bridge.

Transport for Wales kept passengers moving throughout with a rail replacement bus service operating between Barmouth and Pwllheli.

What did the officials say?

Bill Kelly, Network Rail's route director for Wales and Borders, said:

“This work will improve the resilience and reliability of the Cambrian Line for many years to come.

“We would like to thank passengers and lineside neighbours for bearing with us as we carried out this important work.”

Colin Lea, Director of Customer Experience at Transport for Wales, added:

“We understand the impact of service changes caused by engineering work on the railway can have on those travelling for business, leisure or education.

“So, we would like to thank all those affected for their patience and understanding.”
