Transpennine Express and Scotrail have introduced joint discounted flexible train tickets between certain stations on their networks.
Passengers with journeys between Manchester Airport, Preston and Lancaster and selected destinations in Scotland, Dundee, Perth, and Aberdeen, could save up to 50% on the ticket prices.
The Transpennine Express and Scotrail discounted tickets are available to both standard class and first-class customers.
For example, traveling between Preston and Dundee could normally cost £101 for a single ticket, whereas with the new ticketing passengers could save £26. A ticket from Aberdeen to Lancaster could cost £75 compared to the usual £128.
James Cohen, Head of Revenue Management for TransPennine Express, said:
“We are always looking for ways to help save our customers money and this joint initiative with ScotRail will save our customers on average around 30% per journey.
“As a company we are proud to connect the North of England and Scotland and this partnership with ScotRail will allow our customers to travel flexibly, while also saving money.”
