has upgraded its smartphone app to allow for ‘Remote Ticket Download'

The exciting new innovation allows commuters to cut down the time it takes to buy a season ticket.

Commuters who have one of Greater Anglia's plastic Smart Cards can now collect them using their Android phone.

They buy the ticket online or through the app. They then hold their smart card to the back of the device to load the ticket onto the card using NFC technology in the phone.

Almost 95% of Greater Anglia season ticket holders now use a smart card instead of a traditional paper ticket, allowing them to pass through gates quicker at busy times.

What Did The Officials Say?

Richard Walton, Greater Anglia's Smart Service Delivery Manager, said,

“This new development means there's no need to wait or queue to buy or renew a season ticket if you hold a Smart Card.

Passengers can now buy their season ticket on-line or from the GA app and then load it onto a Smart Card in just a few minutes, wherever they are, saving them precious time.

“We're pleased to have developed this innovation with our partners to offer much more convenient and flexible season ticket purchasing for rail passengers in East Anglia.”
