The Mid Suffolk Light Railway has announced that for 2019, they will have have a visiting locomotive.

Visiting for the 2019 season, steam locomotive ‘Sirapite’ will be visiting the line.

Sirapite is the near-legendary 1906 Aveling & Porter 0-4-0-WT. It was the works shunter at Garretts of Leiston for over 30 years.

‘Sirapite’ has never made a working visit to another railway, with the ‘Middy’ being the first.

‘Sirapite’ is a traction engine on rails and weighs only 8 tons 10 cwt, which is too light to pull passenger trains. During the steaming season, at the Middy, it will be in action on shunting and goods vehicles demonstrations.

Details of dates will be announced soon.
