Greater Anglia has announced that the planned railway engineering works on the Sheringham line have been cancelled.

It was planned for the works to take place for the next two weekends. However, with these now being cancelled, passengers can catch trains instead of rail replacement bus services which had been advertised.

Passengers are now being advised to check before they travel, as the train times are different from the rail replacement bus timetable.

Network Rail was planning to carry out the work on the weekends of 20/21 and 27/28 October as part of improvements to the Sheringham line.

However, the first phase has been finished ahead of schedule so these two weekends are no longer needed.

The project is due to continue on Sunday 4, 18 and 25 November and Sunday 2 December.

What did the officials say?

Martin Moran, Commercial and Customer Services Director said:

“We want to make sure customers know that they can now travel by train instead of the advertised bus service if they're planning weekend trips to Sheringham in the next fortnight.

“As ever, we advise customers to check before they travel for details of arrival, departure and journey times.”

Meliha Duymaz, Network Rail's route managing director for Anglia, said:

“The work planned for the Sheringham line has been completed ahead of schedule, so the remaining closures have been cancelled.

“The next phase of work takes place on Sundays only starting in November and we advise that passengers check before they travel.”
