The North Norfolk Railway has seen steam locomotive hauled trains return to the line today, Wednesday 1st August, following consultation with the Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service and nearby farmers.

As you will be aware, the heatwave that the UK has been through has dried all the grass out on the line side and meant that there was a greater risk of lineside fires, so, the has been running their trains with diesels instead.

However, over the past few days, there has been some much needed heavy rainfall in the area.

Steam locomotives will return to the North Norfolk Railway from today, but trains will be being top and tailed with a diesel locomotive as a precaution.

Please note: The North Norfolk Railway are taking care and caution in the reintroduction of steam services – changes may be made without prior warning.
