Improved seating at Greater Anglia train stations

Greater Anglia has announced that over 1300 seats can now be used at railway stations across East Anglia.

The train operating company has installed 450 additional three seater benches and also replaced 318 existing ones with brand new versions.

Many stations have seen an increased of at least 30 extra seats.

The new benches are compliant with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act to ensure ease of use by those with mobility issues.

The new benches have supplemented and/or replaced older benches at 131 stations in total.

What did the officials say?

 

's Director of Asset Management, Simone Bailey, said:

“The new platform seating provides more seats at stations and greater comfort for passengers, as well as improved station presentation, at a time when we continue to see increasing passenger numbers.

“It's part of an ongoing programme of station upgrade projects which are also improving customer information, station lighting, ticket purchasing facilities and wider station presentation standards across our network.”

  • What about replacing the old information departure screens with new LED information screens at stations such as Ingatestone, Rayleigh, Hockley, Rochford, Prittlewell, Battlesbridge, South Woodham Ferrers, North Fambridge, Althorne, Burnham-on-Crouch, Southminster, Colchester Town, Wivenhoe, Arlesford, Great Bentley, Weeley, Thorpe-le-Soken, Kirby Cross, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze, White Notley, Cressing, Braintree Freeport, Braintree, Mistley, Wrabness, Harwich International, Dovercourt, Harwich Town and other stations in East Anglia that could see new LED information screens that will replace the old information screens. As most other stations on Greater Anglia have already got new information screens.
