ScotRail have announced that the disused rail track in Largs has been transformed into a community garden thanks to the dedication of local volunteers.
The garden is located next to platform two and was created by the local group, Largs Organic Garden, as part of ScotRail's Adopt A Station programme
The project took around 12 weeks to complete with many of the supplies and labour donated by local trade businesses.
More than 275 ScotRail stations across the country are part of the ‘adopt a station' programme.
What did the officials say?
ScotRail Alliance Head of Social and Economic Development James Ledgerwood said:
“Largs Organic Garden adopted this area of the station in January 2017 and, since then, they have transformed the look and feel of the station.
“The new community garden looks fantastic, and the accessible pathway means that it can be enjoyed by everyone in the community.”
Anne Carson, of Largs Organic Garden, said:
“We are pleased to have completed this wheelchair path which is the final project in the garden. It was created from recycling a public square which was destined for landfill.
“I would like to thank ScotRail for assisting us in establishing such a wonderful community garden for everyone to enjoy.”
