Cambridge Railway Station becomes drop-off point for city food bank

Greater Anglia has announced that Cambridge Railway Station has become a drop-off point to help Cambridge City Food Bank help people in need of food.

Staff at are now appealing for people who live in Cambridge to drop off food bank donations at the rail station.

Donations of non-perishable, undamaged and in date food can be made until Thursday 19th April.

To fill the gap in its stock, the food bank desperately needs jars of pasta sauce, long life milk, tinned tomatoes, long life fruit juice and rice pudding. Instant coffee, tea bags, jams and sugar are also welcome.

What did the officials say?

Greater Anglia's Area Customer Service Manager, Amy Brown, who organised the collection said:

“The Food Bank is need of particular items to help it continue the vital support it provides to people in crisis in Cambridge. We really wanted to do something to help and, because so many local people pass through the station every day, we thought the station would be a very convenient, easy place to drop off donations.”
