February Half Term Events at Preserved Railways – Wales and Scotland

Looking for something to do this February Half Term? Whether with your family, friends or by yourself, here are a few preserved railways in Wales and Scotland open this February Half Term.

Wales

If you fancy a trip by steam down the line at Llangollen Railway, steam engines will be running on the weekends of the 17th & 18th and also the 24th & 25th. On the weekdays (12th to 16th, 19th to 23rd and 26th to 28th), a heritage diesel multiple unit (DMU) railcar will be hauling passengers. Set in the scenic Dee Valley, North Wales, a trip to the  Llangollen Railway makes a perfect day out. More information can be found here

Welsh Highland Railway

The Welsh Highland Railway will be running trains most days over the February Half Term. These days are the 10th, 11th, 13th to 15th, 17th, 18th, 20th to 22th, 24th and 25th.

With the beautiful countryside combined with the superb service provided by the Welsh Highlands Railway, a visit to the line is bound to be relaxing and a perfect way to spent your Half Term. More information can be found here

Trains will be running most of February along the line at the Vale of Rheidol Railway. The orange timetable will be in operation between the 10th and 25th of February. More information can be found here

Scotland

The Strathspey Railway's DMU railcar will be running on certain days throughout February. These days are 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 24th and 25th. You can sit back and enjoy the views of the Scottish countryside from the vintage panoramic railcar. More information can be found here

This is only a small number of the total number of preserved railways in Wales and Scotland, with this article purely suggesting possible days out over the February Half-Term.
