Looking for something to do this February Half Term? Whether with your family, friends or yourself, here are a few preserved railways in East Anglia, Home Counties and the Midlands area who are open this February Half Term.
East Anglia
Bure Valley Railway
The Bure Valley Railway is running their teddy bear express trains for children between the 10th and 18th of February. With every fare paying adult, two children can ride the train for free. Bure Valley Railway's mascot bear will be present throughout the day, with the Whistlestop Cafe being decorated for the occasion. More information can be found here
Nene Valley Railway
On the 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th Thomas will be hauling trains between Wansford and Yarwell, a perfect day out for all those Thomas fans out there!
In the week, on the 14th and 15th, trains should be running the full length of the line, providing a good day out in the February Half Term. More information can be found here
Bressingham Steam & Gardens
Open from the 10th to the 18th, with both the Dads Army exhibition hall, one railway and gallopers running, there is something for all ages. The gardens, owned by the Bloom Family, may also be open. More information can be found here
Home Counties
Didcot Railway Centre
The Didcot Railway Centre is open from the 10th to the 18th of February, with steam days on the 14th, 17th and 18th. Didcot is home to many Great Western Railway locomotives, ideal place for a family day out. More information can be found here
Buckinghamshire Railway Centre
With both steam and static days throughout the February Half-Term, the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre offers both quieter and steam filled days. Steam days are on the 11th, 14th and 18th, with Static days on the 12th and 13th. More information can be found here
Midlands
Great Central Railway
Trains will be running to the blue timetable on the 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th. A special visit from Chase & Marshall from Paw Patrol will be made on the 13th to the 15th of February. Whether by yourself or with your children, the Great Central Railway offers the perfect day out over the February Half Term. More information can be found here
Severn Valley Railway
The Severn Valley Railway has a number of events on for children this Half-Term. Including pirate fun (17th – 25th), model tramway (17th – 25th), storytelling (20th) and circus entertainment (22nd). On top of this, trains will be running to there Yellow Timetable from the 17th to the 25th of February. More information can be found here
