ScotRail has announced that they will be running more trains on the Glasgow to Mallaig route.

The route, which has featured in the Harry Potter series of films, has been considered to be one of the most scenic routes in the world.

The popular route has suffered in recent years due to the lack of investment.

The train operating company announced that Class 158 diesel multiple units will be being introduced in 2018, replacing the outgoing Class 156 multiple units.

The improved trains were unveiled last year and feature power sockets and WiFi.

What did the officials say?

Local MSP Kate Forbes told The Press and Journal: “The West Highland Line has for too long been ignored when it comes to investment – the rolling stock is of poor quality and the timetable is irregular and infrequent. But it has got huge potential, so I welcome the new investment.”
