A supporter of the North Norfolk Railway (NNR) has purchased a large share in 76084, which ensures the Standard 4 will stay at the line between Holt and Sheringham for the foreseeable future.
This ends the uncertainty of the locomotive's future when a large share (247,532 of 800,000) was offered for share by John Oldcorn.
Despite not being the majority, this portion of shares is enough to influence key decision making made by the 76084 Locomotive Company Ltd.
The new shareholder wishes to remain anonymous. NNR's Managing Director Hugh Harkett leading the successful sale and become a representative on the broad.
Hugh Harkett said, “The engine stays here and we have lots of plans for it”.
Whats next for the Steam Locomotive in Norfolk?
The loco is now being based at NNR. New boiler tubes are wanted to be put in 76084, to extend its mainline ticket to 10 years. This will allow the engine to haul dining trains on the mainline route between Sheringham and Cromer.
Agreements between the 76084 Locomotive Company Ltd and NNR would have seen the engine stay at NNR long-term. This is due to the NNR providing a loan to the 76084 Locomotive Company Ltd to help restore 76084 from barry condition.
