North Wales railway set to reopen after flooding left tracks hanging in mid air

Buses will replace trains until the work is completed

The railway line between Junction and is expected to reopen on Saturday 13th April after emergency repairs.

The line was forced to closed on Tuesday this week (9th April 2024) after flooding washed away ballast near station.

Engineers are now using rail-road vehicles to install 200 tones of new ballast, with work expected to be completed in time for trains to resume on Saturday morning.

Until then, rail replacement buses will replace trains, calling at , , Dolgarrog, , , , , , and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

    • Indeed. Maybe they have addressed it elsewhere but the image above appears (and appearances can be deceptive) to show a flat area (therefore potentially soggy) with only a narrow footing of ballast – narrow for the conditions.
