Summer train tickets for East Coast routes to be made available

To help passengers plan and book ahead for their journeys this summer, from tomorrow, Thursday, 4th April North Eastern Railway will make hundreds of thousands of tickets available to buy for journeys up to and including Friday 6th September.

Between June and August last year, over six million journeys were made on services, which was an increase of nine per cent on the same period in 2022.

Among the most popular journeys made last summer were services to London King's Cross from Edinburgh , , upon Tyne, , , and .

People can plan ahead and look forward to that
special summer trip

With many families preferring to stay in the UK for their holidays instead of travelling abroad, London North Eastern Railway is encouraging customers to book in advance for this summer and avoid administration fees by booking directly.

Family Tickets offer exceptional value, with travel for up to two adults and four children for one fixed price.

There are no booking fees when tickets are booked directly with London North Eastern Railway, and customers are also kept up to date with travel changes through access to live journey alerts.

London North Eastern Railway's loyalty scheme “LNER Perks” earns customers credit for future journeys.

In addition, Deal Finder which is to be found on the LNER app offers special deals and useful information about destinations.

Catering services on London North Eastern Railway trains include the facility to have refreshments delivered directly to the seats of customers in Standard class using LNER's Let's Eat At Your Seat service, whilst customers in First Class can enjoy a delicious range of locally sourced food and drink with complimentary at-seat service.

London North Eastern Railway's new Azuma fleet of trains continue to set new, higher standards in comfort, reliability and customer experience.

Operating between London, the East , , the North East of and , it serves more than 50 stations, including major towns and cities along the route.

    The net result of this has been that most journeys we take – and we use LNER frequently – seem now more expensive than they were a year ago. There seem to be fewer advance tickets and you now have to book two singles where before you could book a return.

    Well done LNER for adding to the cost of living increases.

    And BTW the LNER Perks scheme is only available if you book on line – an obvious attempt to make using ticket offices less attractive.

    Last but not least far from the new Azuma fleet of trains continuing to set new, higher standards in comfort, reliability and customer experience, they are uncomfortable and cramped and appear to have been designed by somebody with a very limited grasp of ergonomics

    I realise that LNER have inherited the mistakes of the previous franchise in terms of their rolling stock but please look at what would actually enhance their passenger’s experience rather than telling us they are when it is demonstrably not true
