The world's oldest surviving operational railway, the Tanfield Railway, has announced that an evening photoshoot will take place this coming Saturday 20th April.

The shoot will take place at the railways Marley Hill locomotive shed built in 1854.

The locomotives will be in the process of being lit up in preparation for the following day's service. This gives the opportunity for a night time industrial railway photoshoot something that is very rare in the 21st century.

To aid the ambience, all the volunteers on hand will dress in period costumes.

While preparing the engines, the locomotives will also be moving about the shed yard and sidings in light steam recreating scenes from the railways industrial past.

From 4 to 9 pm, the event will take place and will have a limit of 50 participants. Tickets can be purchased at https://tanfield.vticket.co.uk/product.php/51/photographicevenings2024 at £25 per person.
