Northern railway stations shine at Cheshire awards

Winners of the Cheshire Best Kept Stations have been announced

The winners of the Cheshire Best Kept Stations have been announced, with Northern managed stations coming out on top in a number of awards.

The Cheshire Best Kept Station went to Alderley Edge and comes off the back of them being praised by the Royal Horticultural Society back in October.

Brinnington Station also picked up Best Staffed Station at the awards, which were presented by Professor Paul Salveson MBE last week.

Other awards for Northern stations were Best Unstaffed Station, which went to Greenbank, Rose Hill won the In Bloom Award, Disley won the Sustainability Award whilst Goostrey and Romiley won the Art Project Award and King's Coronation Awards, respectively.

Some regional awards were also handed out, with Delamere winning the Cheshire West and Chester Award, Glazebrook winning the and Award and Heaton Chapel winning the TfGM Award.

, , Hale and Sandbach all were Highly Commended in their respective areas.

In a rallying call to volunteer groups across the county, he added: “Please keep on doing what you are doing!”
