West Somerset Railway announces Newcastle-built locomotive visitor

The West Railway has announced that they will be welcoming GWR 0-6-2 No. 6695 this Spring as part of an extended visit.

The locomotive will be running on a number of days between March and June 2024.

Visiting thanks to 6695 Locomotive Ltd and the , the locomotive will take part in the Spring Steam Spectacular event, visiting alongside 1054 and 61306 Mayflower.

6695 was built by Armstrong Whitworth in Newcastle in 1928 and had workings in the Midlands before moving to South Wales at the start of the Second World War.

The visit of 6695 is the first visit away from its home railway after its recent overhaul.
