Steam locomotive 34067 Tangmere to pass through Yorkshire and Lancashire this Saturday

34067 Tangmere will be back on the mainline this weekend (24th February 2024) as it hauls part of a Pathfinder Tours trip to .

The trip will depart Bristol Temple Meads behind a diesel locomotive at 05:30 and will pass through Bristol Parkway (05:42), Cam and Dursley (06:09), Cheltenham Spa (06:33), Worcestershire Parkway (07:02), Birmingham New Street (07:45), Stafford (08:53), (09:26), (10:20) and North Junction at 10:50, where Tangmere is added to the train.

With Tangmere added to the train, the locomotive will depart at 11:26 and will pass through (11:42), Penrith North Lakes (12:21) and Carlisle at 12:43.

After time in Carlisle, the train will depart at 14:18 and will pass through (15:04), (15:50), (16:04), (17:13), (17:33) and Preston at 17:54.

Here, the diesel locomotives replace Tangmere and will return to Bristol Temple Meads via the same outbound route, passing through Crewe (19:29), Stafford (20:05), Birmingham New Street (20:52), Worcestershire Parkway (21:45), Cheltenham Spa (22:21), Cam and Dursley (22:53), Bristol Parkway (23:16) and Bristol Temple Meads at 23:33.

  • I have seen Tangmere on the mainline several times. It always seems to emit loads of black smoke which envelopes the engine and lead carriages. Is it simply a bad steamer…?
