The Diesel and Electric Preservation Group has acquired Class 09 No. 09019 as a way to secure the locomotive for the West Somerset Railway.
The locomotive has been based at the West Somerset Railway for a number of years, but the new deal sees ownership transfer from JJP Holdings Ltd to the DEPG.
The DEPG has been servicing and maintaining the locomotive for some time whilst under the ownership of JJP Holdings, with the view going forward that the locomotive and maintenance will be provided to the WSR as a fully inclusive package.
09019 has been in preservation since 2013, where it was the station pilot at Bishops Lydeard.
