station in West Lothian will see work begin this weekend (10th of February) which will see its platform upgraded.

The 12-week project comes as part of continuing investment into Scotland's Railway and will see demolish the current platform before installing a brand new modern platform which features a surface which is much easier to maintain.

The upgrade work will get underway from 01:00 on Saturday the 10th of February and will mean that no services can call at Addiewell station, which will remain fully closed to the public until 06:00 on Friday the 10th of May.

Whilst the project is ongoing, those travelling to and from Addiewell will need to get off of the train at station where a rail replacement bus service will continue the journey to Addiewell.

Customers travelling from Addiewell can travel using the rail replacement bus to West Calder station where train services will be in operation as usual.

The work comes following several repairs made over the years. However, technology in platform maintenance has made great advances and will see the station benefit from an improved platform which will last longer.

The new platform will feature improved drainage, reducing puddles during periods of heavy rain or following snowfall, and the melt which follows. The new platform will also be smoothed which will reduce the risk of falls due to tripping.

The essential work we're carrying out at Addiewell will mean passengers will be able to move around the station safely and comfortably for years to come.

We understand that closing the platform temporarily may cause some inconvenience in the short term, but we've worked with colleagues at to minimise through provision of replacement buses.

We thank passengers and neighbours for their patience and understanding throughout these works.

During the project, customers will need to use replacement buses to travel between Addiewell and West Calder.

Work will take place both during the day and at night, with nightshift working hours being 23:00hrs – 06:00hrs on Saturdays – Thursdays.
