ScotRail issues travel advice for League Cup final at Hampden Park on Sunday

is providing travel advice for football fans attending the League at 's this weekend.

Rangers will play for the first trophy to be won this season on Sunday (17 December) at 15.00. The two teams currently stand in second and ninth in the Scottish Premiership, and a large crowd is expected to attend.

To help fans get to and from the match, ScotRail will add extra carriages to trains between and , and between Glasgow Central and . The operator expects trains to be busier than usual, so is urging passengers to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time.

ScotRail is urging Aberdeen fans to travel on services from Glasgow Central to Kings Park, and Rangers fans to Mount Florida.

Queuing systems will be in operation at Glasgow Central before the match starts, and at Mount Florida and Kings Park after it finishes.

At Glasgow Central, there will be separate queues for Aberdeen fans to board services to Kings Park via the main concourse, and for Rangers supporters to board services to Mount Florida via the carriage driveway on Hope Street. Once the match is over, Scotrail asks Aberdeen supporters to travel home via Kings Park and Rangers supporters to travel home via Mount Florida.

Passengers can reduce their queuing time by buying return tickets in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app. The ticket will become available instantly on the buyer's mobile device.

Extra ScotRail staff will be on duty to help passengers, who are reminded that they are not allowed to carry or drink alcohol on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said, “ScotRail is looking forward to helping fans travel to Hampden to cheer on their side in the men's Scottish League Cup final.

“We're asking customer's heading to the games to plan ahead and allow more time for travel, as trains will be busy.

“We'll be doing all we can to help you travel to the match as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats on train services to and from Mount Florida and Kings Park.

“Queuing systems will be in place before and after the matches so please make sure you know where to go. We have a dedicated webpage with more information, and our staff will also be on hand to direct you.

“Buying your return tickets in advance through our mTicket system on the ScotRail will reduce your need to queue.”
