The RMT Union has announced that London Underground staff will be taking strike action in January in a dispute over pay.
The union says it has made it clear that the offer of 5% from London Underground is unacceptable.
Engineering and maintenance staff will take action on the 5th and 6th January 2024, with no rest day working or overtime until the 12th January 2024.
Control Centre members will go on strike on the 7th and 8th January 2024, and all Fleet will walk out on Monday 8th January 2024.
Signallers and Service Controllers will go on strike on the 9th and 12th January 2024, while Fleet, Stations and Train grades will take action on the 10th January 2024.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said that Tube workers who help bring vast amounts of value to the London economy were not going to put up with senior managers and commissioners raking it in, while they were given modest below inflation offers.
“The refusal of TfL to restore staff travel facilities and create a two-tier workforce is also unacceptable.
“Our members have made it clear that they are prepared to take action and we urge TfL to improve their offer to avert disruption in the capital,” he said.
Many people earn less than them and those many people lose their working days and/or annual leave days, when decided for taking days off due to strikes. It is crisis time, mates. We need more work, not less.
The hypocrisy of the unions knows no bounds. I wonder what damage they are doing to London by continually going on strike? The pay, benefits and conditions they get are unbelievable.
You only have workers rights (pay and conditions, hours, health and safety ect) because of union action over the last 100 years.
