Shropshire heritage railway gets ready to welcome Santa

at in are preparing for the festive season as it gets ready to run its popular Santa Specials to bring the thrill of to young and old alike.

Once again this year, Santa will make time in his busy schedule to bring a touch of Christmas magic when he boards the much-loved ‘Santa Express' in North Shropshire.

Passengers of all ages can enjoy a vintage train ride on the ‘Santa Specials' as they travel from Oswestry station to Weston Wharf, where they can visit Santa and his friends in his grotto.

Two years ago, Cambrian Heritage Railways extended its line from Oswestry to Weston Wharf, and it provides a magical setting to host the railway's traditional Santa Specials.

To get everyone into the spirit of Christmas, there will be festive refreshments and entertainment, with the highlight of the events being when Santa presents a gift to every child.

Trains will depart from Oswestry station at 10.00, 12.00 and 14.00 on Saturdays and Sundays 2/3, 9/10, and 16/17 December, and on Saturday 23 December, and tickets for both adults and children cost £16 each.

The railway anticipates a high demand for the Santa Specials, so advise anyone wanting to meet Santa to book early to make sure of a place on their chosen train. To join Santa and his friends, visit the railway's website at www.Cambrianrailways.com for details.

Gearing up for the festivities, Cambrian Heritage Railways General Manager, Andy Green said: “This is a magical time of year and everyone at Cambrian Heritage Railways is delighted that Santa has chosen to make several appearances throughout December to our special railway”.

“We all know how busy Santa is at this time of year so having him to visit us before the big day is going to be an enjoyable experience for new customers and those who have made it an annual Christmas celebration.”
