Best Large Visitor Attraction in Cornwall revealed

The Railway, a fifteen-inch minimum gauge railway located near , has again been recognised as the best large visitor attraction in .

The Railway, which is near St Newlyn East, received the award for the second year running at the prestigious Cornwall Tourism , which took place at Truro Cathedral.

Industry experts judged dozens of tourism and hospitality businesses, including by visiting them anonymously. Lappa scored very highly on all criteria. The judges noted Lappa's warm welcome, well-maintained facilities and friendly, helpful staff.

In addition, Lappa Valley train driver Ben Patrick was named the year's unsung hero. Ben has used his experience as a young full-time carer for his father to help disabled visitors feel more comfortable, and encourages young railway enthusiasts.

Lappa Valley with celebrate its fiftieth anniversary next year, and is planning a series of special events. It will open a new station, and name its newest locomotive, which arrived last month.

Keith Southwell, Managing Director of Lappa Valley, said, “We are humbled to have been recognised in this way for a second year. This wouldn't be possible without the hard work and commitment of our entire team, every single one lives and breathes the Lappa values of inclusivity, fun, nature and enabling families to make special memories.

“We've made a significant number of investments to evolve Lappa Valley over the last few years, including our new Engine Shed Indoor Soft Play, adventure golf and the arrival of a brand new train.”
