Police release image after vicious assault on train in Birmingham

are seeking the public's help after a man was viciously assaulted on board a train in the West Midlands and have released a CCTV image to help them in their investigations.

The assault happened on board the 4.04 pm West Midland Railway train travelling from New Street to at about 4.40 pm on Saturday, 12 August.

The victim was a 51-year-old who had boarded the train at . What started as a minor dispute with another passenger escalated when the other passenger punched him in the face.

The victim was taken to hospital where it was found that he had suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the image as they believe he may have information that could help their investigation.

British Transport Police would also like anyone who was travelling on the 4.04 pm West Midland Railway train travelling from to Lichfield on Saturday, 12 August, or has any information that can help their investigation, to contact them by text to 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 449 of 12 August 2023.
