has released figures that confirm it is continuing to deliver very high levels of punctuality throughout East Anglia.

For the four-week period ending 14 October, punctuality across the company's network averaged 95.9% based on the long-standing public performance measure (PPM) that measures the arrival times of each service at their destination stations.

With the latest figures, Greater Anglia's moving annual average PPM figure stands at 94.4%, which maintains the historically high results that the company has achieved over the last three and a half years.

On a route-by-route basis, the figures were as follows:

On four routes the annual results were at least 97.8%:

When the more challenging “Time to 3” performance measure is used, which records the arrival within 3 minutes of every single train at every single station that they serve, the annual performance is 93.4%.

Over the same 4-week period to 14 October, Greater Anglia achieved the best figures out of all UK train operators on all five performance measures on which they are regularly measured:

  • on time at all stations;
  • time to within 3 minutes at all stations;
  • time to within15 minutes at all stations;
  • public performance measure – arrival time at destination within 5 minutes of scheduled time;
  • cancellations.

Greater Anglia's annual PPM performance results have traditionally tended to average between 87% and 91%, peaking at 92.8% in June 2013. However, over the last three and a half years, it has consistently recorded a year-round average of over 93%. When Greater Anglia's contract to operate services was renewed in the region in 2016, it committed to increasing the all-year-average in punctuality to 93% by 2025.

Three main factors stand out as being responsible for the higher performance levels:

  • sustained joint work by Greater Anglia and to improve performance standards;
  • the better performance provided by new trains;
  • work by Network Rail to improve rail infrastructure reliability.

Commenting on the continuation of the positive performance results, Jamie Burles, Managing Director, Greater Anglia said: “We're pleased to be consistently delivering high levels of punctuality for our customers and stakeholders in East Anglia. We are fully focused on keeping up these very high standards of performance, to match the transformation of the journey experience brought by our new trains, with their greater comfort, better facilities (including plug/USB points and wifi), increased seating capacity and better accessibility.”
