Football’s New Sustainable Travel Charter Supported by Great Western Railway

Football Supporters Association and the English Football League Sustainable Travel Charter welcomed by Great Western Railway

has revealed its support for the Sustainable Travel Charter, which has been launched by the Football Supporters Association and the English Football League in a bid to reduce the football community's carbon footprint.

The Sustainable Travel Charter aims to promote and support environmentally friendly travel options for the football community and will also challenge the idea of flying, which is currently popular with top-flight football clubs in favour of more sustainable travel.

So far, support for the Charter has been reported by SportsPro Media from clubs, including:

The Charter has also seen support from the FSA and football charity Pledgeball.

This year also saw rock legends, The Foo Fighters choose to travel with Great Western Railway as they made their way to the Glastonbury Festival to perform as The ChurnUps and even saw Dave Grohl pose with the rail operator's staff members.

At present, discussions are underway with other football clubs to get behind the charter, with further aims to also inspire further organisations to take part in carbon-reducing travel.

Great Western Railway is extremely focused on providing sustainable travel options in order to support the , by making the choice to travel by train football teams and fans can really make a difference. The rail operator has already worked with and Millwall as well as Queens Park Rangers and the Wales national football team.
