Using the train from Hull to London shows 92% saving in CO2 emissions

Hull Trains has released figures which show that travellers can save 92% in carbon emissions by using one of the company's bi-mode Paragon trains to travel from Hull to London Kings Cross.

The research was carried out by Hull Trains and verified by independent sustainability experts Arup and will be welcomed by anyone looking for greener methods of transport.

It shows that travelling from Hull to London King's Cross by train will produce 12 times less CO2 than by driving, with the train estimated to produce 5.42 kgCO2e compared to 67.2 kgCO2e if travelling by car.

Hull Trains has launched a ‘travelling sustainably' webpage that shows travellers the CO2 savings they can make and is available at all locations along Hull Trains' route to London King's Cross and can be viewed here.

Hull Trains is continuously looking for ways to make journeys more sustainable, and its travelling sustainability webpage is just the latest initiative.

The company's recent move of its headquarters to Cherry Tree Court has already shown significant energy savings, and these are being enhanced by training its drivers in energy-saving driving techniques. It is also continuing to look for ways to prevent pollution and conserve resources.

Hull Trains' focus on sustainability is part of the wider rail industry's Green Travel Pledge, which provides a commitment to engage and empower passengers, businesses, and business travellers to make more informed choices by providing them with detailed, accurate, and reliable data on the amount of carbon emissions produced by their rail journeys.
