Avanti West Coast has released the first pictures of one of its new Class 805 trains in the new livery chosen for the class.
The new trains are being built at Hitachi's factory at Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, which is where the new livery was applied.
Inspiration for the train's stylish look comes from Avanti West Coast's Pendolino trains which have a palette of colours reflecting the different landscapes in the areas through which the trains will operate.
Testing of the new trains will start next week, and the Class 805 train chosen to display the new livery, number 805005, has been receiving some final touches before it is transferred to Avanti West Coast's fleet.
It will become the third train to be formally handed over to Avanti West Coast when it is delivered next week to Oxley depot at Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
The first of the new trains are scheduled to enter service across the network in the next few months, with all three units delivered so far being used for mainline testing and staff training.
The news about the new trains and their new livery comes a few days after it was announced that the West Coast Partnership, comprising Avanti West Coast and West Coast Partnership Development, was awarded an initial three-year National Rail Contract, that includes the option to extend it for a further six years.
Ellie Woolmore, Head of Brand at Avanti West Coast commented: “The excitement around our new fleet is really starting to build. The new livery helps to give the train its identity, taking its lead from our iconic Pendolino fleet, whilst accentuating its sleek design.”
What does the future hold for the 390s
New livery will not hide the appalling service the trains offer.
I do think that the Class 805 Bi-mode and Class 807 AC electric AT300 IETs will look amazing in Avanti West Coast livery and to enter passenger service by the end of this year or in the beginning of next year. Looking forward to them. And also not to mention East Midlands Railway Class 810 “Aurora” AT300 IETs as well.
Because Avanti was not compulsorily made to take on livery colours similar to Virgin they had to spend money repainting Stockport and other stations they ran at great expense. Now there is a livery change then their stations will need to be painted again.
Another’s waste of money for a management ego trip. The rail passenger will have to pick up the bill. Ridiculous!
AWC is not a painted livery it’s as you saw out shopped painted in white what your seeing there is almost a fully vinal wrapped train the EMR 810’s have been the only 800 sets to not be out shopped in white as they do use a paint base as you can see on there current 222 fleet with it flaking off around the fronts of the units

Good luck but will they run as at the moment there’s no train,s because of all the strikes and no drivers and I am fed up with it as I can’t get away so who is going to pay for the train,sus the people the fair,s will go up again
Don’t look forward to sitting in seats that were meant for local commuter trains.

I fort they was replacing the class 221 but they do look good definitely have to ride one 👌🏻
No they don’t they are the same as 800
I hope the seats line up wth ithe windows this time which they didn’t manage to do on the Pendolinos.
