ScotRail launches new online hub with hundreds of ideas for days out

To encourage more people to travel by rail when they are planning days out in , has launched a new campaign, ‘Go by train', that encourages them to its new Inspiration Hub that provides ideas that are within easy reach of over 300 railway stations across Scotland.

The Go by train campaign was launched today, Monday, 14th August, which explains how ScotRail's Inspiration Hub is an online resource that provides ideas for hundreds of things to do, upcoming events, discounts, and special offers.

It may be that people are in search of an outdoor adventure, a new place to walk the dog, history and culture, or inspiration for entertain children, the Inspiration Hub is an ideal resource to help to make it happen.

The hub is designed to make planning a day trip or short break in Scotland as easy as possible. It has hundreds of ideas that all show the location of the nearest railway station, details about train tickets, and other helpful information.

Backed up by a national advertising campaign centred around a TV advert, the Inspiration Hub aims to stimulate interest in the wide range of destinations and attractions that can be easily accessed by rail. Full details about the hub can be found at https://www.scotrail.co.uk/inspiration-hub

Claire Dickie, ScotRail Head of Retail, said: “Travelling by train is a fantastic way to experience everything Scotland has to offer, and this exciting new campaign will help to bring those opportunities to life.

“We hope the ‘Go by train' campaign will help spark imaginations and show the fantastic experiences the railway can make possible. Our new Inspiration Hub will make it easier than ever before to find attractions, upcoming events, discounts, and things to do, all within easy reach of our stations.

“We are looking forward to inspiring more and more people to go by train, and our hardworking ScotRail team will be on hand to help customers enjoy their days away.”

Fiona Hyslop MSP, Minister for Transport said: “Taking the train is a fantastic way to see all that Scotland has to offer, and it can often be a more relaxing way of travelling than going by car. With ScotRail now in public ownership, we want to make sure that not only is it a success but also offers added value to existing passengers, and attracts new ones.

“This campaign supports this aim and ScotRail's new Inspiration Hub will help achieve this by making it simple to find great ideas for days out at value-for-money prices. Our peak fares pilot, coming this October, means we are making ScotRail even more attractive for hard-pressed families.”
