(TPE) is planning to mark the 175th anniversary of Paragon station with a mural celebrating the city's history.

The operator has commissioned Hull artist Andy Pea to create the mural for the station's Ferensway entrance. Andy has been a practising artist for more than twenty-five years and has produced work in Europe and as well as in Hull and elsewhere in the UK.

TPE is asking local residents and users of Hull Paragon Interchange to suggest people and historical events that they would like Andy to include in his design. Email your suggestions to hullparagonartmural@tpexpress.co.uk with the subject ‘Hull Mural' by Friday 25 August.

The artwork will be installed in stages over the coming months, and station users will be able to see the work progress.

Benjamin Courtney, station manager for TPE, stated that “To honour this special occasion, we are delighted to have commissioned Andy Pea to produce a commemorative mural and want to incorporate as much of Hull's culture and background into this artwork as possible.”

Artist Andy Pea said: “I'm thrilled to work with TPE on this project, as someone born and bred in Hull, the city offers so much creative inspiration.

“It is important that this public art is owned by the public and I look forward to hearing from them what Hull people, events and history should be applied to the current blank canvas have.

“With TPE I have already been collaborating with students at Ron Dearing UTC on this project as they will help me paint the mural. They have provided a number of brilliant ideas and suggestions on what should be included and I'm proud to see their energy, interest and support for this project.”
