Amtrak has launched a sale on fares for its Auto Train, which provides a daily non-stop service from Lorton, Virginia, which is close to Washington DC to Sanford, Florida, which is near Orlando.
The service provides passengers with the opportunity to travel with their vehicle (cars, vans, SUVs and motorbikes) and marks the only service of its kind in the United States, offering an environmentally friendly travel option for the journey of almost 900 miles.
The sale will bring fantastic savings for customers travelling northbound from Sanford to Lorton and will be available until the 18th of August for one-way travel with prices starting at just $39, not including the cost of the vehicle.
Travel options include Coach, which offers:
- Plenty of legroom
- No middle seating
- Large picture windows
- Complimentary breakfast (served prior to arrival)
For those seeking a more luxurious and private journey, First Class private rooms are available and offer:
- Priority boarding
- Complimentary meals onboard
- Dedicated First Class attendant
- Newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens
First Class accommodation options include a Roomette which features two comfy seats which transform into upper and lower beds or a Bedroom which provides double the space and features an in-room sink, toilet and shower.
Fares for one-way travel included in the sale are as follows:
For one person travelling (not including the cost of a vehicle):
- Coach: $39
- Roomette: £239
- Bedroom: £439
For two people travelling (not including the cost of a vehicle):
- Coach: $78
- Roomette: £339
- Bedroom: £539
Please note that Double occupancy is required for Roomette and Bedrooms.
Tickets purchased in the sale support travel dates from the 21st of August through to the 20th of December, excluding the following high-demand dates:
- 10th to 11th of November
- 17th to 19th of November
- 24th to 25th of November
