Train changes for West Kirkby and New Brighton services

With more of its new trains becoming available, from next Monday, 31st July, is additional changes to the temporary timetable for services on the West Kirby and lines so that drivers can receive training and become familiar with the new trains.

This will help with the phased roll-out of the Class 777 trains into operational service and will affect the following five trains each day Mondays to Fridays on the line and three on Saturdays., and seven each way Mondays to Fridays on the New Brighton line and seven on Saturdays.

West Kirby line:

Monday to Friday:

  • The 0921, 1036, 1221, 1336 and 1451 trains from West Kirkby to will be cancelled.
  • The 0951, 1106, 1251, 1406 and 1521 trains from Moorfields to West Kirkby will be cancelled.

Saturday:

  • The 0851, 1006, and 1121 trains from West Kirby will be cancelled.
  • The 0921, 1036, and 1151 trains from Moorfields to West Kirby will be cancelled.

Sundays

  • There are no cancellations.

New Brighton line:

Monday to Friday:

  • The 0923, 1023, 1123, 1238, 1338, 1438, and 1538 trains from New Brighton to Moorfields will be cancelled.
  • The 0946, 1046, 1146, 1301, 1401, 1501 and 1601 trains from Moorfields to New Brighton will be cancelled.

Saturday:

  • The 1238, 1338, 1438, and 1538 trains from New Brighton to Moorfields will be cancelled.
  • The 1301, 1401, 1501, and 1601 trains from Moorfields to New Brighton will be cancelled.

Sundays

  • There are no cancellations.

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director at Merseyrail, said: “Our driver training programme is moving across to the Wirral line as we head towards the next exciting phase of the rollout of the new trains.

“This does require a small number of temporary cancellations on the West Kirby and New Brighton lines while this happens.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this will cause passengers and look forward to our Wirral line passengers experiencing the ground-breaking new trains as soon as possible.”
