Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway to feature in Series 14 of Michael Portillo’s ‘Great British Railway Journeys’

's ‘Great British Railway Journeys' Series 14 will see a visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway and is currently showing on weekdays on BB2 at 18.30 with the GWR episode set to air on the 20th of July.

Series 14 sees Michael go on a personal journey, touring the Britain of his younger years. In the series, Michael remembers the optimism and excitement of the rebuilding of the country following the Second World War and revisits the turmoil and delight of British Rail from its modernisation and movement from steam to diesel and how this impacted post-war Britain.

The show also sees a look into the controversial eras of Beeching and Barbara Castle and how this has shaped the network we know today.

A visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is featured in an episode which sees Michael enjoy a journey from to hauled by 47105. The episode also takes a look at the incredible scenery and history of the railway, its impressive locations and fascinating people.

Following the initial broadcast of the show, it will be available to stream via BBC iPlayer.
