Mark your calendars for a thrilling weekend as the Evesham Vale Light Railway gears up to host its highly anticipated steam gala on the 8th and 9th of July.

This event promises to be a treat for steam locomotive enthusiasts and families alike, offering a unique opportunity to witness an extensive timetable of train rides and marvel at a stunning collection of locomotives.

One of the main highlights of the gala will be the inclusion of two visiting locomotives from the renowned Whistlestop Valley Railway in Huddersfield, .

Making their way to Vale are the impressive Fox and Badger, which will join the home steam locomotive fleet consisting of 0-4-0 Tender/Tank No 312 ‘St. Egwin,' Exmoor Steam Railway No. 300 ‘Monty,' and 0-6-2 No 3 ‘Dougal.'

Fox, a remarkable 2-6-2 tank engine, boasts a rich history. Built in 1987, Brian Taylor meticulously crafted Fox in his Shepley workshop, ensuring its authenticity and captivating allure. Fox is based on a locomotive built by the esteemed Hunslet Engine Company in Leeds and sent to work in India.

Badger, another captivating creation by Brian Taylor, was completed in the Clayton West workshop in 1991. This 0-6-4 saddle tank locomotive draws inspiration from the iconic design of contractors' locomotives, which were once produced in large numbers and exported worldwide. Its unique design and exceptional craftsmanship make Badger a stunning addition to the gala.

Throughout the two-day event, visitors can witness an extensive timetable of train rides featuring captivating locomotive combinations. Trains will be running from 10:30 am until 4:30 pm on both days, offering ample time to experience the magic of steam travel.

The Evesham Vale Light Railway, nestled within the scenic Evesham Country Park in , England, operates on a narrow 15-inch (381 mm) gauge. Covering a distance of just over 1 mile (1.6 km) from Station to Evesham Vale Station, this enchanting railway provides a delightful journey through picturesque landscapes. Twyford Station, serving as the sole terminus on the line, connects with Evesham Vale Station via a balloon loop, providing an exciting circular route.
