ScotRail is adding extra services and seats to transport fans to and from upcoming concerts at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.
The park will host a trio of concerts by big-name artists over the next week:
- Muse on Friday 23 June
- Arctic Monkeys on Sunday 25 June
- Guns ‘n' Roses on Tuesday 27 June.
Carriages will be added to some trains on the Paisley Canal route, and extra shuttle services will run between Dumbreck and Glasgow Central.
From 10pm on Friday 23 June and Tuesday 27 June, buses will replace the usual train service between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal, calling at all stations except Corkerhill, to allow special train services to run between Dumbreck and Glasgow Central only, to get gig-goers home after the concerts.
Road restrictions imposed by Glasgow City Council prevent replacement buses accessing Corkerhill station, so ScotRail is advising passengers to Mosspark station instead.
Replacement buses will not operate after the Arctic Monkeys gig, as regular services on the Paisley Canal route wind down from 6pm on Sundays.
ScotRail is further advising passengers:
- to allow extra time for their journey, as they may not be able to board the first train that they go for
- to plan their journey in advance and buy their return tickets for travel through the mTicket system on the ScotRail app, which makes tickets available on the purchaser's mobile device
- that carrying and consuming alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and at ScotRail stations.
The operator is advising concertgoers to head to Dumbreck – the closest station to the park – as soon as the concerts end, where there will be a queuing system. Extra staff will be on duty to assist passengers.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “There are some really popular acts performing at Bellahouston Park over the next few days, and we're really looking forward to helping music lovers travel to see their favourite bands.
“We're adding lots of extra services for each of the concerts and thousands of extra seats, but trains will still be very busy, so people should plan their journeys in advance.
“Buying a return ticket to Dumbreck in advance via the ScotRail app will help make your journey run smoothly.
“We'd ask anyone travelling home by train to be mindful of our neighbours when you're making your way back to the station.”
