Michael Manders, aka Mike the Knight, has received an award for his fundraising efforts.

Mike works for Trains, and has supported the Action for Children for many years.

Last year he ran the Marathon in a full suit of armour, raising over three thousand pounds.

He later donated the suit of armour to the charity.

A panel of judges awarded Mike the top spot in the Supporter Achievement Category at the charity's Stephenson , which are given every year in recognition of Action for Children's supporters, volunteers, carers, and staff, and of the achievements of the children, young people and families that the charity supports.

For over 150 years, Action for Children has been helping underprivileged children across the UK, offering practical and emotional support to families in need.

Mike, On-Board Manager, explained: “It was amazing not only to be nominated, but to actually win the award. Everything you do when you're fundraising is for the charity and the children, so you never expect the recognition to be for yourself. It means the world to me.”

When asked about his future fundraising endeavours for Action for Children, he said: “I've got a lot more in the pipeline, I'm doing the Great North Run in September followed by the Marathon in October and we have a skydive and a from Hull to currently being planned for next year. It's going to be a busy few months of training!”
