Transport for Wales will deliver improvements in customer facilities at Flint and Runcorn East stations with work set to get underway this month as part of its Station Improvement Vision.
Both stations are set to benefit from upgrades which will enhance customer experience, including:
- CCTV
- Help points
- Passenger waiting and cycle shelters
- Seating
- Lighting
- Waste facilities
- Signage and branding
Further improvement work will be carried out at Flint station's ticket office and waiting rooms and will include water refill units, new CIS screens and toilet refurbishments, and landscaping.
A Social and Commercial Development Project by Transport for Wales will also see a disused building repurposed on Flint station's platform 1 and will see two new community rooms created alongside a staff room and a new passenger waiting room.
The project aims to renovate under-used space in order to create activities at stations making the most of space which can be utilised by the community or for commercial usage.

These station improvements offer tangible benefits to our customers and visitors to Flint and Runcorn East stations. The investment in the disused building at Flint Station will improve the way the station looks and will provide more commercial and community opportunities. This significant investment in both stations will introduce an array of new and upgraded facilities and will really enhance the overall customer experience.”
Contractor Taziker, industry and local partners are working together with Transport for Wales with an aim of building improved customer experience.
Kim Hawkins, Group Station Manager said: “We are happy to see this investment in customer facilities throughout our stations and I am confident that staff will support both our customers and contractors on site, to ensure we minimise disruption. We will continue to work collaboratively to ensure our stations are safe, accessible and welcoming places for passengers.”
Fleet station will see Transport for Wales host a ‘Meet the Manager' session prior to work getting underway, which will take place on Thursday the 22nd of June from 8.30am to 2pm.
The project is expected to complete by the end of the year.
Transport for Wales is advising customers to add extra time when travelling during the work in case of any disruption.
Runcorn East station could do with some massive improvements including having a lift. And is not from Runcorn main line station on the WCML Liverpool line.
