4G and 5G mobile coverage now available to at Camden Town Tube station

Transport for London (TfL) has announced that 4G and 5G mobile coverage is now available at Town station on the .

TfL is pursuing a project to extend high-speed mobile coverage within stations and tunnel sections of the Tube network.

This will allow passengers to check travel information, as well as to access their emails, web content, social media and videos while travelling.

They will also be able to make calls.

The project has already provided 4G in the following areas:

Now that Camden Town has 4G and 5G, around one tenth of Tube stations with underground platforms can get a mobile signal.

TfL's next step will be to extend coverage to Camden Town's neighbouring station, Mornington Crescent, which it expects to complete within the next two weeks.

After that, high-speed mobile coverage will be made available inside the Tube tunnels between Kentish Town, Camden Town and Mornington Crescent stations in the coming months.

Later in the summer, TfL will provide high-speed mobile coverage at some of the busiest stations in central London, including and , and at more stations on the Northern and Central lines.

In doing that, TfL aims to help the millions of visitors who come to the West End every year. the mobile coverage will allow them to navigate London more easily, to make reservations while travelling, and to share their experience of the capital with family and friends.

All four mobile network operators – Three UK, EE, Vodafone, and Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) – are taking part in the project, which BAI Communications is delivering for the Mayor of London and TfL.

With Mornington Crescent station soon to follow in the coming weeks, this increased connectivity will allow customers to get the latest travel information, access social media, check their emails, make calls, and stream videos while passing through these stations.”
