On the evening of Thursday 1st June, the Llangollen Railway will be hosting an illustrated talk by Fiona Gale on the ‘Denbigh, Ruthin & Corwen Railway in the Vale of Clwyd'.
The talk will be held in the Henry Robertson Suite at Llangollen Station. It is suitable for all ages and is expected to last about two hours, and refreshments will be available.
For 100 years, from the 1860s until the 1960s, the Vale of Clwyd was served by a railway that connected Corwen in the south via Ruthin and Denbigh to the North Wales coast. At Ruthin, a recent project to refurbish a crane with connections to the railway has acted as a catalyst for a wider project that aims to collect memories of the line, examine some of its features, and research some of its history. The talk by Fiona Gale will explore some of that work.
Until she retired, Fiona Gale was the County Archaeologist for Denbighshire and has been a consultant and mentor to numerous community groups, and has organised, led, or taken part in, hundreds of events, guided tours, talks, and lectures. In 2020, Fiona was awarded an MBE for her services to Heritage in Wales.

Because of the size of the venue, only 50 tickets are available for the talk, and these are being offered on a first-come-first-served basis, so anyone wishing to attend should book now to avoid disappointment.
