ScotRail is encouraging music lovers travelling to Murrayfield Stadium to see Beyoncé on Saturday to plan ahead.
The train operator will add more seats and extra trains to help fans travel to BT Murrayfield to see the pop icon, who is also performing in Cardiff on Wednesday.
Extra seats will be added to services wherever possible throughout the day on routes in and out of Edinburgh Waverley. ScotRail plans to run the additional trains before and after the concert.
ScotRail is also asking passengers heading to the concert to allow plenty of time for their journey, and to be aware of the services available for their journey home.
The concert is due to start at 6:30pm, but Murrayfield's gates will open at 4.30pm, and ScotRail is encouraging fans to get to the venue early as trains will be very busy.
It is also urging passengers to travel home from Edinburgh Waverley, Edinburgh Gateway, and Edinburgh Park stations due to ongoing redevelopment work on a building next to Haymarket station which has more than halved the capacity for queuing within Haymarket station, meaning that ScotRail can not operate its normal queuing system when the concert ends.
Fans are advised to not use Edinburgh Haymarket to and from the concert and to consider alternative routes and transport options.
- Edinburgh Trams operate a fast and frequent service between the stadium entrance and Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park and St Andrew Square tram stop, which is a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley.
- Edinburgh City Centre is also accessible from BT Murrayfield by a Lothian Bus services 1, 3, 12, 22, 25, 26, 30, 31 and 33.
- Rail passengers are encouraged to buy their return tickets for travel through the mTicket system on the ScotRail app, either from home or on the way to the station, where the ticket will instantly become available on their mobile device.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We're doing what we can to help music fans travel to see Beyonce perform at BT Murrayfield on Saturday and I am delighted we have been able to add more seats and some extra trains.
“The gates at the stadium open from 4:30pm, so I'd encourage customers to travel to the stadium early if they can and allow plenty time for their journey as services will be busy.
“After the concert, customers should make their way to Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, or Edinburgh Waverley to catch their train home as there will be limited access to Haymarket station due to the redevelopment work on an adjacent building, which is not owned or operated by ScotRail.”
