Northern is highly commended for being an inclusive employer

has been highly commended at the Good Employment as part of the Best in Inclusion category for providing an inclusive workplace.

A voluntary scheme, the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter aims to increase employment standards for the region and is committed to supporting fair pay, and equality while providing employees with a voice on how their working environment is operated.

Other nominees alongside Northern in the category included the Co-operative Bank and Southway Housing Trust.

Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern, said: “We're so pleased to be recognised for our achievements. We feel very strongly that equality, diversity and inclusion should be at the forefront of our business and we want Northern to be a great place to work–for everyone.”

Northern was also recently recognised in a leading customer experience award scheme after taking onboard passenger experiences in order to make practical changes and create improvements in accessible travel.

The Forum Awards, which were held in , saw Northern pick up the Inclusivity title alongside strategic customer experience and innovation partner Hellon.

Sunday the 21st of May will see Northern's new summer timetable come into operation and are therefore advising customers to check trains time ahead of making a journey here, especially those who travel by train regularly.
