North Yorkshire Moors Railway reveals fun family activities for the May half term

The Moors Railway will host a selection of family activities for the upcoming May , which will be held at and stations from the 27th of May to the 4th of June.

In combination with the well-loved heritage railway's Kids Go Free offer, which is running throughout its 2023 season, a visit to the offers a fantastic and affordable family day out to remember.

May Half-Term Activities:

Tuesday the 30th of May:

  • Crafting drop-in Sessions will be held at Goathland, in the Learning Coach and will take place between 10am and 4pm.

Wednesday

the 31st of May:

  • ‘Just the Ticket' Station Trail will take place at Goathland, the drop-in activity will be held in the Learning Coach between 10am and 4pm

Thursday the 1st of June:

  • Signaller Experience activities will take place at Pickering station in the P2 Classroom and Signal box. The sessions take place at 9:45am, 11:45am and 2:00pm.

The heritage railway's Kids Go Free offer applies to all children aged 15 and under and will provide free travel at all times.

Visitors to the railway can also buy a 12-month Unlimited Annual Pass for just £45 which allows unlimited visits within the year for standard timetable services only.

For those wishing to purchase shorter journey tickets, a day return travel between up to two stations is available using a fixed fare price as follows:

  • 1 Station – £12 per adult aged 16 and over
  • 2 Stations – £22.50 per adult aged 16 and over
  • Children aged 0 to 15 years travel for free.

The North Moors Railway is now officially recognised as a learning destination in the Children's University scheme, with children able to claim 2 hours of learning for each visit they make. Children's University is a charitable organisation which works with schools in order to build a passion for learning outside of the classroom. This is achieved by encouraging participation in extra-curricular activities both inside and outside of school.
