West Somerset Railway-based steam locomotive 9466 gets new boiler ticket

Jonathan Jones-Pratt has announced that GWR Pannier No. 9466 has passed its steam test following maintenance.

The locomotive now has a new 14 month ticket, allowing it to haul passenger trains at heritage railways.

Jonathan says that it is planned that 9466 will complete test runs on the in November.

Following test runs, the locomotive will then be at the West Somerset Railway to support the railway's winter operations.

Come 2023, the locomotive will then be able to haul passenger trains at the West Somerset Railway and other heritage lines, should offers of hire be placed.

And for those of you wondering. Jonathan also confirmed that 9466 has kept its mainline equipment and its mainline registration, meaning it could be seen on the mainline network.
