‘The time is now’ for Digital Signalling as Industry Partnership for Digital Railway event takes place

The digital event will consider how the 's open boundary and user-centric industry partnership is creating innovation whilst building the ability and the necessary experience in order to introduce digital signalling right across the rail network. The event will also review how the industry could improve its operations alongside Great British Railways.

June saw the Government reveal more than £1 billion investment for the East Coast Digital Programme which confirmed plans to put digital signalling in place for the southern part of the .

The event will see Modern Railway's Phillip Sherratt joined by leading industry figures including Sir Peter Hendy – Chair of ; David Horne – Managing Director of LNER; Dyan Crowther – CEO of Ltd and Chair of NSAR; and Toufic Machnouk – Network Rail's Director and Industry Partnership for Digital Railway.

The event will provide an opportunity to discuss how the East Coast Digital Programme has brought together Network Rail, operators, suppliers and the Government in a groundbreaking industry and commercial partnership which will see the delivery of the first intercity digital railway for the UK, a positive move for the railway of the future.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Toufic Machnouk said: “Digital signalling is a centrepiece of a 21st-century railway. It offers a safer, higher performing, more resilient, more efficient, better skilled, more productive, and greener railway that works better for passengers, users and taxpayers.”
