Industrial action taking place on the 5th, 7th and 9th of November will see Great Western Railway services significantly reduced.
Saturday the 5th, Monday the 7th and Wednesday the 9th of November will see further strike action taking place and will bring almost a week of extreme disruption in its wake.
Strike days will see train operations hugely limited with some parts of the Great Western Railway network with no service at all.
Trains which are able to operate on the strike days will see an extremely reduced service and will run later than usual with services starting from 7.30am. All journeys operating through strike days will complete before 6.30pm with last trains leaving prior to this time.
The days in between strike action days will also see disruption as members of staff return to their positions at differing times.
The Great Western Railway services which are able to operate are anticipated to be extremely busy and no rail replacement buses will be available.
The rail operator's online journey planner will update with the most up-to-date information as soon as it is available.
During the strike action, Great Western Railway is advising passengers to find alternative travel modes and only travel by train if it is completely necessary. The rail operator will be running a greatly reduced timetable with some routes services cancelled altogether. Other rail operators are also impacted by the industrial action which will create further issues with onward travel.
Saturday the 5th will see Wales vs New Zealand rugby match taking place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and no trains will be operating to get fans home following the game. People who have already booked train tickets are being advised not to travel by train and to use alternative transport options.
Rail customers who have purchased tickets for the strike days are able to claim a full refund or change their ticket
Passengers who choose to travel on strike days may be entitled to compensation via delay repay if services are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
Season ticket holders are able to apply for compensation via delay repay.
In order to support customers, tickets will be valid for travel on differing days:
- Tickets for travel on the 5th of November are valid for travel on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of November
- Tickets for travel on the 6th of November are valid for travel on the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of November
- Tickets for travel on the 7th of November are valid for travel on the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of November
- Tickets for travel on the 9th of November are valid for travel on the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of November

During the strike days, Great Western Railways Refund and Book with Confidence policies will remain in place. Customers with a return ticket can claim a refund for unused full fare, even if just one leg of the journey is impacted.
RMT, TSSA and Unite unions have announced strike action at Network Rail and a good number of rail operators including Great Western Railway.
