students travelling by train this can once again benefit from half-price travel on services.

From Monday, 21st November 2022 until Monday, 9th January 2023, college and university students can get a massive 50 per cent discount on train tickets on any Off-Peak ScotRail ticket except Super Off-Peak Day Return tickets.

To take advantage of the offer, students just need to turn up at a staffed ticket office with their valid student photo ID, purchase their half-price ticket, and jump on board. If students are joining a train from a station where no ticket office is available, they can still purchase cut-price tickets on-board their train.

Although the offer ends on Monday, 9th January 2023, the savings will continue into the new year as students who buy Off-Peak return tickets will have up to one month to use the return portion of their ticket for travelling back to college or university after the festive break. That means tickets can be used up to Wednesday, 8th February 2023 for tickets purchased on 9th January.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “Our half-price offer for Scottish students has proven really popular in the past, so we're thrilled to be able to pass on the savings again – just in time for the Christmas holidays.

“Everyone is feeling the pinch just now, but for students, it can be even more challenging as they try to balance their finances, buy gifts for loved ones, and spend time with family and friends.

“The return of our half-price deal on tickets is our gift to them this Christmas – whether students are travelling home for the holidays, going on a night out, or heading into town for some shopping, our sleighed ticket prices will help them make the most of this special time of year.”
